Job Name - GDS Digital Engineering TMT Leader
Position Summary
The establishment of a GDS Digital Engineering Leader for TMT is critical to accelerate EY GDS Consulting’s growth in a sector experiencing rapid, technology-led disruption and innovation. TMT clients, including telecommunications service providers, digital media companies, streaming platforms, software and hardware technology firms, and emerging tech innovators are significantly increasing investments in platform and product engineering, cloud-native modernization, AI-enabled software development lifecycle (SDLC) transformation, digital content and data platforms,
OSS/BSS modernization, 5G/6G networks and edge computing, and cyberresilient engineering.
While demand is robust, GDS participation today tends to be capabilityspecific and opportunity-driven, which limits the ability to present a cohesive, end-to-end Digital Engineering value proposition tailored to the unique challenges and fast-paced evolution of the TMT landscape. This role provides dedicated executive leadership to transition from fragmented delivery models to a solution-led, engineering-centric approach, enhancing GDS integration, improving win-rates, and ensuring delivery predictability across TMT sub-sectors.
Essential Functions of the job
The scope of the position will include
- Build strong relationships with TMT sector leaders, account leaders, and EY Member Firms to influence account plans and drive growth. • Establish a solution and Field‑of‑Play‑based operating model for TMT Digital Engineering (product & platform engineering, cloud modernization, integration/API ecosystems, DevSecOps, QA automation, SRE).
- Ensure GDS participation in large technology and transformation deals, supporting solution shaping, pricing, estimates, and RFP responses.
- Participate in and lead key client orals, demonstrating EY/GDS engineering capability, assets, and delivery excellence.
- Host CXO‑level client visits to GDS to showcase engineering studios, accelerators, innovation, and right‑shoring models.
- Build scalable right‑shoring delivery models, leveraging offshore and nearshore strengths while ensuring reliability and compliance.
- Establish delivery governance across pipeline, demand, delivery health, and cost of delivery.
- Build and mentor an engineering leadership bench (SM/EDs) aligned to priority TMT portfolios.
- Drive strategic collaboration with key technology partners, startups, and academic institutions within the TMT ecosystem to co-create cutting-edge engineering solutions and accelerate digital transformation across TMT sectors.
- Ensure all engineering solutions and delivery practices within EY GDS adhere to TMT industry-specific regulatory requirements, safety standards, and cybersecurity protocols, maintaining the highest standards of compliance and risk management.
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities
- Solve complex client problems by combining engineering, cloud,
- AI‑enabled SDLC, data platforms, and security
- Provide multiple solution options and guide TMT clients toward outcome‑driven engineering roadmaps
- Apply pragmatic, scalable engineering approaches to modernization, scale, and reliability challenges
- Use automation and standardization to improve delivery predictability and reduce cycle times
Education & Experience
- Minimum 22-25 years of professional experience in technology consulting / digital engineering, including 8+ years in senior leadership roles, with deep exposure to TMT clients and transformation programs.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex initiatives involving platform and product engineering, cloud-native modernization, AI/ML-enabled software development lifecycle (SDLC) transformation, OSS/BSS modernization, 5G/edge computing deployments, digital content and data platform strategies, and cyber-resilient engineering within fast-evolving TMT environments.
Desired experience:
Leading large‑scale programs in platform/product engineering, cloud‑native modernization, DevSecOps, CI/CD, integration/API platforms, QA automation, SRE
Strong understanding of TMT operating models:
- Technology: platform scale, product‑led growth, engineering productivity o Media: content platforms, streaming architectures, data & personalization
- Telecom: OSS/BSS modernization, digital channels, network‑adjacent platforms
- Proven ability to sell and deliver large engagements using global delivery models
- Experience managing multi‑disciplinary, multi‑geo delivery teams
