Job Description

Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O Technical Consultant – Roles & Responsibilities

1. Technical Development

• Develop customizations using X++ in Dynamics 365 F&O.
• Create and extend tables, forms, classes, data entities, and reports.
• Develop custom business logic following Microsoft's extension-based development model.
• Build reusable components and frameworks.

2. Integrations

• Design and develop integrations with external systems using: OData REST/SOAP APIs Custom Services Data Management Framework (DMF) Electronic Reporting (ER), where applicable
• Integrate D365 F&O with applications such as CRM, HR, banking, payroll, and third-party systems.

3. Data Management

• Perform data migration using: Data Management Framework (DMF) Data Entities Excel Add-ins
• Create custom data entities.
• Support data import/export activities.
• Validate and reconcile migrated data.

4. Reporting & Document Generation

• Develop and customize: SSRS Reports Electronic Reporting (ER) Print Management reports
• Customize document layouts including invoices, purchase orders, and packing slips.

5. Extensions & Customizations

• Create extensions instead of over-layering.
• Customize forms, workflows, menus, security, and business processes.
• Develop event handlers and Chain of Command (CoC) extensions.
• Implement feature enhancements while maintaining upgrade compatibility.

6. Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)

• Use: Microsoft Visual Studio Azure DevOps Git repositories
• Manage code versioning and branching.
• Perform code merges and conflict resolution.
• Support deployment across Development, UAT, and Production environments.

7. Performance Optimization

• Analyze and optimize X++ code.
• Improve SQL query performance.
• Resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Follow Microsoft coding best practices.

8. Security Development

• Configure: Roles Duties Privileges
• Implement role-based security.
• Customize security artifacts where required.

9. Workflow Development

• Develop and customize approval workflows.
• Configure workflow participants.
• Debug workflow issues.
• Implement business process automation.

10. Unit Testing & Debugging

• Perform unit testing.
• Debug X++ code using Visual Studio.
• Resolve production defects.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

11. Deployment & Release Management

• Package deployable builds.
• Support environment deployments.
• Manage hotfixes and code releases.
• Coordinate production deployments with functional teams.

12. Documentation

• Prepare: Technical Design Documents (TDD) Functional-to-Technical mapping documents Deployment guides Code documentation
• Maintain technical specifications and development standards.

13. Collaboration

• Work closely with: Functional Consultants Solution Architects Business Analysts QA/Test Engineers Project Managers
• Participate in design discussions and solution reviews.

14. Production Support

• Investigate production incidents.
• Perform root cause analysis.
• Apply bug fixes.
• Support change requests and enhancements.
• Monitor application health.
