Cloud Migration Engineer – AWS / Azure
Experience: 6+ years in IT infrastructure, including 2+ years of hands-on cloud migration or cloud infrastructure experience.
Role Summary
We are looking for hands-on Cloud Migration Engineers to execute enterprise workload migrations, primarily to AWS, with Microsoft Azure experience considered an advantage.
This is an execution-focused engineering position. The successful candidate must have practical experience migrating production servers or applications from on-premises or virtualized environments to public cloud platforms.
We are particularly interested in engineers with strong Windows/Linux infrastructure backgrounds who have participated directly in migration projects.
Key Responsibilities
-
Execute server and workload migrations from on-premises, VMware, and other cloud environments to AWS.
-
Configure and operate AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) and other migration tools.
-
Perform source server assessments, agent installation, replication configuration, and migration readiness checks.
-
Execute test migrations, validate replicated workloads, and troubleshoot migration issues.
-
Participate in migration wave planning and technical cutover preparation.
-
Perform production cutovers, post-migration validation, and hypercare activities.
-
Troubleshoot operating system, networking, storage, DNS, Active Directory, and application connectivity issues.
-
Support migration runbook creation, technical documentation, and rollback procedures.
-
Collaborate with Technical Leads, Cloud Foundation Engineers, and customer application owners.
-
Identify opportunities to automate repetitive migration activities and improve migration efficiency.
Mandatory Technical Skills
-
Hands-on experience migrating Windows and/or Linux servers to AWS or another public cloud.
-
Practical experience with AWS EC2, EBS, VPC, security groups, and basic IAM.
-
Experience with AWS MGN, Azure Migrate, VMware HCX, RiverMeadow, or comparable server migration technologies.
-
Strong Windows Server and/or Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
-
Knowledge of VMware vSphere or similar virtualization technologies.
-
Understanding of DNS, TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, and basic network troubleshooting.
-
Familiarity with server replication, testing, cutover, rollback, and post-migration validation.
-
Experience troubleshooting infrastructure and operating system issues.
-
Ability to follow migration runbooks and execute production changes safely.
Nice-to-Have Skills
-
Microsoft Azure VM migration experience and Azure Migrate.
-
AWS Transform, RiverMeadow, CloudHedge, or other migration accelerators.
-
PowerShell, Bash, Python, or automation scripting.
-
Terraform, Ansible, or basic Infrastructure as Code experience.
-
Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows infrastructure services.
-
SQL Server, Oracle, or other database migration exposure.
-
AWS networking, VPN, Direct Connect, or hybrid connectivity.
-
AWS IAM, cloud security, or operational monitoring.
-
Experience with application dependency mapping and migration discovery.
-
AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, SysOps Administrator, or equivalent certification.
Expected Outcomes
-
Independently execute assigned migration tasks and migration waves.
-
Deliver successful server migrations with minimal rework.
-
Identify and resolve replication, cutover, and post-migration issues.
-
Contribute to reusable migration procedures and automation.
-
Support predictable, repeatable, high-volume migration delivery.
Critical selection criterion: Candidates must demonstrate direct involvement in real server or workload migrations. General cloud operations, monitoring, or infrastructure support experience alone is insufficient.
